I live in the Lake Belt

May 19, 2011

Thanks to Michigan architect Mark Nickita, I now have a great new name for describing the region of America where I live: The Lake Belt!

Move over, “Rust Belt”! That term is SO last century! Let’s face it: Michigan IS the Great Lakes State.  And Michigan shares its freshwater treasure with other Lake Belt partners:  Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and the Province of Ontario.

Read Nickita’s Lake Belt post here.

Thanks, Mark, for the new name!

  1. Hi Cindy, Great website! It was so good to see you twice recently in RL. Maybe we can organize a lunch this summer with Cindy LaFerle. We can call ourselves the 3 Cindys, lol.

  2. Thanks! It was nice to see you twice in one week, too! And I do like the idea of meeting for lunch this summer.

  3. Hey, I like the three Cindys idea … and speaking of the lake belt, I think we’ve got one here in Royal Oak, too 🙂

  4. Yes…let’s do lunch, ladies! Cindy, has the water gone down now in your backyard?

Our street in Royal Oak has a dip in it, which you may not notice until you bike uphill or until it rains heavily. But Lake Elmhurst didn’t appear this time around, for some reason.
